Pathway to James Cook University


Academic: Guaranteed entry where applicants have obtained a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or passes in at least 3 academic subjects from Year 12 or equivalent

English: JCU College English for Academic Purposes Level 2 or IELTS 5.5 (no band less that 5.0) or equivalent

Develop the knowledge needed to succeed in future engineering studies. You will study varied subjects to understand key concepts of the engineering profession.

Learn how to effectively communicate as a professional engineer and gain essential practical experience through laboratory classes and field trips to local and regional industry partners.

Receive a university diploma qualification upon successful completion. If you achieve the relevant language requirements, you can enter the second year of the nationally and internationally accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).

Embedded within the program is JCU College’s 200 hour English for Academic Purposes Course (Level 3). This course has been NEAS assessed as having an exit equivalent of IELTS 6.0 (no band less than 6.0) and as such meets the language requirements for entry to the James Cook University Engineering Degree. Students already meeting the language entry requirement will be required to complete JCU College English for Academic Entry Requirements EAP 4 (exit equivalent 6.5 no band less than 6.5). This complimentary course will give students an academic edge in all their studies.
